Ilobu/Ifon/ Erin Clashes: FHA boss calls on NEMA to provide relief materials for victims

The Executive Director, Project Implementation at the Federal Housing Authority, Abuja, Mr Oluremi Omowaiye has called on the National Emergency Management Agency to come to the aid of those displaced in the communal crises ravaging two local government areas in Osun State.

Violent clashes involving hoodlums from Ifon, Ilobu and Erin Osun have left several killed, while many others were injured and properties destroyed since it started in the early hours of Friday.

Omowaiye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Osun, in a statement obtained in Osogbo on Sunday, lamented that over 72 hours after the crises broke out, there was not response in terms of provision of aid for those displaced from the Osun State Government.

The ex-Osun State Commissioner for Works, having condoled families that lost properties and lives in the violence, described as eyesore, the plight over 100,000 people displaced, who have been roaming the streets in search of shelter and food.

“Over 72-hour after, we can’t see anyone set up camp or provide any form of succor for those displaced in the violent clashes in Ifon, Ilobu and Erin Osun by the Osun State Government.

“These are people living in their various houses and having places of work till Thursday evening that the crises erupted and they have suddenly become displaced right in their own state. They should be treated better and I find it hard to believe that authorities directly concerned are not acting yet.It so sad that Governor Ademola Adeleke who had time during Ramadan to club in celebration of his daughter’s birthday didn’t deemed it fit to visit those affected communities which are about 10min drive from Osun Government House after 72 hours.

“On behalf of these helpless people, I am pleading with the Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima who surpevises National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to direct the agency to come around and provide relief materials. These people are hanging around, sleeping in churches and mosques for those that could find, while others have been at sleeping at different spots along Osogbo/Ogbomoso road.

“I am also using this medium to call on ex governor and our political Leader HE Adegboyega Oyetola, to use his connections and goodwill to get immediate aid for these people. They cant be left in such a condition,” Omowaiye said.
