Focus on Dr. Ajibola Basiru SRJ Alubarika Security Agenda Initiative for the people of Osun State
A New People-Centered Framework for Global Security and Resilience
Series 5
In response to the complex and evolving global security landscape, again unveil the Security Initiative quality of SRJ for the people of Osun State. This landmark initiative will represents a fundamental shift in how security is defined and addressed, moving beyond traditional military and state-centric approaches to a holistic, human-centered framework focused on building resilience, fostering trust, and ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals and communities worldwide.
The initiative will be based on the core belief that lasting security is not achieved through force alone, but through the active participation and empowerment of the people it is meant to protect. It recognizes that threats such as climate change, economic instability, health crises, and social inequality are often the root causes of insecurity and must be addressed proactively.
In an address made by Alh. Abdulraheem Muhammed-Saheed Omokehinde Akofe Olohunlalaro (Arowosadini of Offa Land), he said, "this is a direct response to the urgent need for a more inclusive and comprehensive approach to security. True security is a state where people feel safe in their homes, confident in their future, and have the resources to withstand shocks". "Dr. Ajibola Basiru security initiative is about putting people at the center of the security equation, empowering them to be agents of their own safety."
The SRJ Security Agenda Initiative will be anchored on three key pillars:
* Community-Led Resilience and Prevention: The initiative will invest in projects that strengthen the capacity of communities to prevent and respond to threats. This includes providing training for disaster preparedness, supporting local conflict resolution mechanisms, and building early warning systems for both natural and man-made crises. The goal is to move from a reactive posture to a proactive and preventive one.
* Economic Security and Social Stability: Recognizing that poverty and inequality can fuel instability, this pillar will integrate security efforts with sustainable development programs. It will focus on creating economic opportunities, ensuring access to essential services like education and healthcare, and promoting social cohesion to reduce vulnerabilities and build a more stable foundation for peace.
* Digital and Information Security for All: As the world becomes more interconnected, new forms of security threats emerge. This pillar will focus on protecting individuals from digital harms, including misinformation, cybercrime, and data breaches. It will promote digital literacy and ensure that the benefits of technology are accessible and secure for everyone, not just a privileged few.
"This is a call to action. We invite all stakeholders to join us in building a new model of security, one that is not about protecting borders, but about protecting people. Together, we can create a world where everyone has the right to live free from fear."
